lyric new names a directory that exists already, lyric init runs where a lyric.toml is, or the git init the command asked for failed. The exit code is 2.

Explanation

new <name> makes the directory <name> and the package in it; it does not write into a directory that is there. init makes the package in the directory it runs in, and not where one is already. With --git, a repository is made beside the package; when git refuses, so does the command, after the files are written.

Choose another name, run init in the directory instead, or leave the package that is there as it is.
